Aprobační komise přidělila webináři 1 hodinu do programu dalšího vzdělávání.
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the Board of the Polish Actuarial Association I have pleasure to invite members of the CEE actuarial associations to its complimentary „Open Floor” series webinar, „IFRS9 impairments – actuarial work in disguise!” which will take place on 1 February 2023 at 5pm CET.
About the seminar:
Actuaries are so busy with IFRS17 that they tend to forget about IFRS9, its twin sister on the asset side. They should have a good understanding of both Standards as in the end, it is their interaction, not IFRS17 solo, that matters. That is why we organise a short presentation on IFRS9 for the Polish Actuarial Association. We start with a high-level overview of IFRS9 and then zoom in on the quantitative aspects of IFRS9, that are quite interesting for actuaries:
- IFRS9 in a nutshell – the three stages of IFRS9, why they were introduced and how they relate to IFRS17,
- IFRS9 impairments – how they can be calculated using a blend of Life and Non-Life actuarial techniques,
- IFRS9 in practice – challenges that you may encounter when implementing IFRS9 at your insurance company.
About the speaker:
David Vanden Abeele has been active for over three decades as a specialist in numerical analysis, risk modelling and data science in various areas.
Within the financial sector, he has worked for many years as a validator and as the head of the group-wide risk modelling team of a large international banking & insurance group. He was involved in the modelling of most types of financial risks, including technical (re)insurance risk and the introduction of new standards such as SII/ORSA. He should have been an actuary, but by the time he realized this, it was too late.
Since 2017, David works as a partner at www.credo.be, a Belgian vendor of finance and risk software. Credo’s IFRSx platform is used by many Belgian banks for calculating their best estimates of credit risk losses under IFRS9. Related to this, Credo has organised numerous trainings on IFRS9 modelling to banking and actuarial federations, regulators, at congresses, etc.
Outside work, you will find David on the North Sea or in Poland (Łódź).
